Jin Shin Jyutsu is all about simplicity. Holding each finger one at a time or the whole set will bring you instant harmony into your body. What ever is going on in your life. Study the hand diagram shown below. All you need to do when one of the mentioned emotions creeps over you is to hold that particular finger for about 5 to 10 minutes. Here are some examples of clients sharing their experiences.
Mary (not her real name) was having problems communicating with her boss. Actually, he was making her quite mad, making working with him almost intolerable. Mary decided to try holding the middle finger all day. How she accomplished that, I didn’t ask. Looking at the diagram, you can see the middle finger is about anger and affects your liver and gall bladder energies. This doesn’t necessarily indicate you are having liver or gall bladder problems, however, if you are in a situation that is less that enjoyable, you will eventually have problems in these parts of your body. Either by resigning to drinking or creating gall stones from the stress. Anyway, Mary held her third finger, going back and forth from one hand to the other all day. She called me that evening to explain that she had been able to contain her anger all day and even noticed a positive shift in her boss!
Another example; a client of mine was asked to sing solo at her church and she was a little nervous. When the time came, she put her hands behind her back and held her first finger snugly. She was able to sing the entire song without one problem. This technique totally calmed her down and she was able to give her best.
If you are experiencing insomnia or recovering from jet lag or wanting to prevent it from overcoming you, just hold each finger one at a time, snugly, but not too tight, with the other hand for about 10 minutes. As you hold each finger, you will begin to feel a pulsation between the finger and hand. This is called the Pulse of Life. It is OK to go through each hand several times, this will only strengthen your immune system and calm you down.
If you are finding the diagram is a little hard to read:
Thumb = Worry, Harmonizes the spleen and stomach
First Finger = Fear, Harmonizes the kidney and bladder
Middle Finger = Anger, Harmonizes the liver and gall bladder
Ring Finger = Sadness, Harmonizes the lung and large intestine
Little Finger = Trying too hard, Harmonizes the heart and small intestine
Middle of the palm = All organs meet here, Harmonizes umbilicus and diaphragm
I’ve had success holding my little finger when my heart starts wildly palpitating in the middle of the night from menopause symptoms or other anxieties. This works!
I hope you give these simple and life giving techniques a try the next time you encounter a perplexing situation.
Let me know how it goes.
